Chord 7 min·absolute beginner

The Am Chord

Same shape as E major, shifted up one string. Three fingers, melancholic, indispensable.

A minor sits beautifully next to C, G, F and E — the most common keys for beginner songs.

Drill
  • Hold the shape, strum 4×, release. Repeat 10×.
  • Switch Em → Am → Em → Am, one strum per chord, slow.
