This song is a passionate plea for unity and peace, written by Stevie Wonder as part of his campaign to establish Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a national holiday. It expresses Wonder's lament that anyone would oppose such a holiday, envisioning a world where "peace is celebrated throughout the world" and King's dreams of integration and "love and unity for all of God's children" are realized. The song, from his 1980 album Hotter than July, directly addresses King in the chorus, celebrating his legacy. Playing it channels a powerful message of hope and the fight for a better world.
