The story behind the song

Roy Orbison was known for his distinctive and powerful voice, complex song structures, and dark, emotional ballads. Many of his songs conveyed vulnerability at a time when most male performers projected strength. This song, like many of his works, fits into the world of an artist who crafted almost all of his own top-10 hits. It plays like a moment of emotional uncertainty, a pause before the next step.
