"In Dreams" is an operatic ballad about lost love, born from a dream Orbison himself had and wrote down in twenty minutes. It takes the listener on a journey through the subconscious, beginning like a lullaby with the sandman ushering in dreams of a lost lover. The song builds as Orbison spends time with her in his dreams, only to climax with the stark realization that these moments can only happen in his sleep. It's a powerful expression of longing, capturing the bittersweet comfort and ache of finding solace in dreams that can't be real.
