In verses on the 4th beat while playing the F, pick the bass note (E|-1-|)
and then on the and of four, walk down to a G (E|-3-|).
All the chords in the verse are an arpeggio starting from the bass note.
In my band we play the verse with barre chords and each note is very staccato (short).  
Then we play the chorus with open strummed chords but still staccato. 
Then on the bridge we strum very open and don't mute anything so we keep the bridge without staccato.
On C/E at the end of the chorus REALLY bring out the E! At first I thought the chord
was an Em but after listening to the song more more i know it's a C/E.
