Song: A horse with no name
Artist: America
Composer: Dewey Bunnell
Album: America
Tabbed by DJ 10th Oct 2016
NOTE:
This tab is based on Gerry Beckley's 12 string
rhythm guitar part, I think it sounds better for a
single guitar than Dewey Bunnell's two chord pattern
which had the benefit of Dan Peek's and Gerry's
extra guitars to back it up.
Dewey Bunnell just used a couple of chords throughout:
Emadd9 = 022002
D6/9(F# bass)= 200202
Gerry's 12 string was tuned down a tone to
D-G-C-F-A-D, and then a capo at the 2nd fret brought
it back up to standard concert pitch (A very common
practise that takes some pressure of the guitar neck)
There is no need for a capo or detuning to play this
on a six string and the chords are just the same.

to add the F# bass with your thumb)

On the first part of the journey,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
I was looking at all the life,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
There were plants, and birds, and rocks, and things,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
There were sand, and hills, and rings
[Verse 2]

The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
And the sky ...with no clouds,

The heat was hot, and the ground was dry,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
But the air was full of sound
[Chorus]
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
I've been through the desert on a horse with no name,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
It felt good to be out of the rain,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
In the desert ...you can re - member your name,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
La ---, la---, la-la, la, la!
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2

[Verse 3]
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
After two days ...in the desert sun,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
My skin be - gan to turn red,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
After three days ...in the desert fun,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
I was looking at a river bed,
Em Em9 F#m11 A6sus2
And the story it told, of a river that flowed,
