Set amp to a neutral tone and kick on a fuzzface or similar effect full blast to get a high powered
gain warm fuzziness going - all tube amp works best.

Open E / Octave Riff thingy - approx but you will find the groove rather quickly -

Intro is open E with an octave riff/slide A string 7th fret / G string 9th fret
(mute the D string and other strings).

Then Corgan basically rides the open E, and does an octave slide from the 11th fret, to the 12th fret,
back down to the 9th fret, then to the 7th fret, all with that octave chord.

Ride the open E hard, even give a little pick harmonic on the A string to add depth.

Sounds like he kicks on an octave up or a hard modulation/chorus during solo.
He improvises live in the key of E or A, I'm not sure but it's one of those pentatonic scales.
