"Chandelier" delves into the melancholic theme of alcoholism, specifically through the lens of a "party girl." The lyrics explore the fleeting feelings of release and abandon found in intoxication, contrasting them with the pain, guilt, and emptiness that often accompany addiction and hedonistic excess. It captures the dark side of celebration, blurring the line between self-destruction and revelry. This song, from Sia's 2014 album 1000 Forms of Fear, was initially considered for other artists before she decided to record it herself. At its heart, it plays like a powerful and poignant exploration of inner turmoil beneath a glittering facade.
