"Thank U" emerged from Alanis Morissette's profound reflections after a trip to India, a period where she paused for the first time in her life. The song is a testament to the immense gratitude, inspiration, and bliss she discovered in that quiet space, leading her to acknowledge life's lessons. It documents her spiritual awakenings and personal growth, expressed through questions and thanks for various circumstances—even difficult ones like terror and disillusionment—that contributed to her journey. This track, from her 1998 album Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, plays like a heartfelt recognition of all the experiences that shape us.
