"Puppets" is part of Leonard Cohen's final album, an album described as a continuation of his previous work, created from musical sketches left over from earlier recording sessions. These vocal tracks were recorded during the same period as his album You Want It Darker, with his son finishing the pieces after Cohen’s passing. The song emerges from conversations about the feelings Cohen wanted to convey, reflecting the themes of faith, mortality, isolation, and regret often found in his work. Playing this song means stepping into a profound and deeply personal reflection.
