"Livin' on a Prayer" tells the story of Tommy and Gina, a working-class couple facing tough times. Tommy is out of work due to a dockworker's strike, while Gina works hard as a diner waitress, both struggling to make ends meet. The song's narrative was inspired by real-life experiences witnessed by the songwriters in the 1970s, including the 1977 Dockworkers' Strike and the early struggles of songwriter Desmond Child and his then-girlfriend, who worked similar jobs. It's a powerful anthem about how love and ambition can carry people through life's hardest challenges. As you play, you can feel the resilience and hope of two people holding onto each other against all odds.
