The Show Must Go On
The story behind the song
"The Show Must Go On" comes from Pink Floyd's eleventh studio album, The Wall, and was written by Roger Waters. The lyrics hint at a sense of desperation or a feeling that something has gone wrong, as suggested by the line "There must be some mistake...". There's a particular lightness in the backing vocals, which were inspired by a Beach Boys-type sound. Though it's a concise piece, it carries the weight of the album's larger narrative, playing like a moment of fragile resolve.
