"Sanctuary" is a love song where Joji offers devotion and honesty to a potential lover, asking them to express their feelings rather than waiting for him to reciprocate first. It's an electro-R&B ballad that blends elements of trap, electronica, and soul music, featuring ambient synthesizers and a minimalist beat. The lyrics are more poetically abstract than some of Joji's other work, adding a layer of depth to its emotional plea. At its heart, it plays like a heartfelt invitation to open up and connect.
