The story behind the song

"Run for Cover" by The Killers was originally written for their 2008 album Day & Age, but vocalist Brandon Flowers couldn't finish the second verse at the time, leading to its incompleteness. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci described the initial version as "slower, sweeter and busier." After meeting Australian musician Alex Cameron, Flowers finally had a breakthrough and completed the second verse. The song, which contains the first overtly political references in a Killers song, was finally released on their fifth studio album, Wonderful Wonderful.
