The story behind the song

"Matthew 24" draws its essence from themes of moral tribulation and redemption, often found in Johnny Cash's work. Cash was known for his deep, calm, bass-baritone voice, and his music frequently explored sorrow and the search for meaning. This song, appearing on an album where he reads the complete New Testament, fits within his later career's increasingly somber and humble demeanor. Playing it, you tap into a spiritual narrative, delivered with the gravity and conviction that defined the "Man in Black."
