The story behind the song

"This Is Amazing Grace" draws its lyrical depth from biblical passages, notably 2 Corinthians 6:18 and Revelation 5:11-13, and also takes inspiration from John Newton’s classic hymn "Amazing Grace." The song was initially written in a short burst by Phil Wickham and Josh Farro, then later refined with Jeremy Riddle contributing to the verses for Bethel's worship album For the Sake of the World. When Wickham included it on his album The Ascension, he made it more upbeat with added synthesizers. At its heart, the song is a powerful declaration of divine grace and majesty.
