This song captures the experience of being overwhelmed by a wide spectrum of feelings, from intense highs to profound lows, culminating in the declaration of being swept up in "emotions." Written and produced by Mariah Carey along with Robert Clivillés and David Cole, it's a gospel and R&B track heavily inspired by 1970s disco music, particularly "Best of My Love" by The Emotions. It showcases Carey's remarkable vocal range and extensive use of the whistle register. Playing this song means channeling that exhilarating, all-consuming rush of feeling.
