"Doctor Robert" delves into the world of a "Dr Feelgood," a physician who provides drugs like amphetamines under the guise of legitimate medical practice. The lyrics contain overt drug references, with the band finding musical ways to portray this doctor as a saint. John Lennon, who largely conceived the song, seemed delighted at the thought of listeners unknowingly singing along to its themes. This track, appearing on the 1966 album Revolver (or Yesterday and Today in North America), captures a provocative spirit. It plays like a sly wink at the hidden side of societal norms.
