The story behind the song

This song found its footing when the band rediscovered a sense of fun during the Achtung Baby recording sessions, after a period of conflict. The lyrics explore the idea of something being "even better than the real thing," a concept that producer Brian Eno encouraged to bring an ironic edge to the song. It originated from a chorus guitar riff composed by the Edge, which the band initially felt sounded "deeply traditional." The addition of a pitch shifter pedal helped transform the guitar sound and invigorate the track. Playing this song, you can channel that spirit of finding something new and exciting in the familiar.
