This song is found on Green Day's major-label debut album, Dookie, which largely explores personal experiences and themes like boredom, anxiety, relationships, and sexuality. The album was a significant moment for the band, bringing a livelier, more melodic rock sound to the mainstream. "Pulling Teeth" carries the spirit of this era, reflecting the raw, personal introspection that defined much of the band's early work. It plays like a window into the intimate and sometimes uncomfortable feelings that come with navigating life and relationships.
