Bad Moon Rising
The story behind the song
"Bad Moon Rising" uses weather imagery to convey a sense of impending doom, of something bad lurking just out of sight. John Fogerty was inspired to write it after watching the film The Devil and Daniel Webster, specifically a scene where a hurricane destroys crops. He described the song as being about "the apocalypse that was going to be visited upon us," even noting the contrast between these serious, apocalyptic lyrics and the song's happy, upbeat melody. It plays like a warning wrapped in a catchy tune.
