The story behind the song

"The Sun Always Shines on T.V." was written by guitarist Pål Waaktaar and features on a-ha's debut album, Hunting High and Low. The band recorded it while sick with influenza, with two members having high fevers and lying on camping beds in the studio. The song is characterized by its synth-pop sound, utilizing synthesizers like the Yamaha DX7 for the bassline, and features a sampled oboe. It captures a feeling of dramatic melancholy, exploring themes of artificiality and the contrast between perceived glamour and underlying struggle.
