THE SCIENTIST (ACOUSTIC) - COLDPLAY
An incredibly simple but fantastic song to play on an acoustic guitar!
There seems to be a lot of confusion about the key of the song.
It does state below that a capo is required, but for those that don't have a capo,
I have taken the liberty of putting a set of chords on which do not require a capo
and will allow you to play along with the CD.
EDIT (08/05/2020) - it's been a long time since I originally submitted this and I must say it will NOT let
you play along to the song. The tuning of the song is very unique. I think it's tuned in 4ths
(which basically means the high b and e strings become c and f. These strings are then played as open
throughout). But even then it still doesn't quite sound right.
Oh well, I'm happy with my version as an acoustic...

The story behind the song

This piano-driven ballad from Coldplay's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head, explores a man's desire for love and an apology, touching on a feeling of powerlessness in its presence. The lead singer wrote it after finding a chord sequence on an old piano, with the core idea behind the lyrics being "just about girls" and how love can be the most impactful thing on one's mind. At its heart, the song plays like a melancholic reflection on romantic longing.
