"Tin Man" draws its title and parts of its lyrics from the Tin Woodman character in The Wizard of Oz, a movie songwriter Dewey Bunnell loved as a child. He described the lyrics as "very obscure" and noted the poetic license taken with grammar. Fellow band member Dan Peek called the song "quintessential Dewey," an "easy stream of consciousness with a major seventh acoustic bed." This 1974 song, produced by George Martin, appeared on the band's Holiday album. It plays like a nostalgic, slightly whimsical journey through a beloved childhood story.
