And because I just adore Jason Mraz of course! I've tried not\r\nto use any other instrument than my ears while transcribing this, and that\r\nturned out to be brilliant training, you should really try that! :)\r\nAs most of the guitar on this record isn't very complicated, it can be notated\r\nas simple chords, and that's how I've done for all the songs. And of course I've\r\nalso included the parts that are more suitable for tabs, certain finger picking\r\nfigures for example. But if there are any parts you think is missing in the tab\r\nor if you want any of the parts in Guitar Pro, just ask ;)\r\n - 15th /August /08\r\n\r\nAnd for question, comments, corrections – just mail me at Maitinin@gmail.com!\r\n\r\n\r\n 1. Notice that\r\nthe pattern for the E and the C#m7 is excactly the same, as these are two\r\nvery similar chords. You can also just play the picking pattern as strummed\r\nchords, those would be the first 3 chords I've added in the chord chart.\r\n The strummed chords are played in the chorus and bridge. So instead of indicating chords, I've just indicated how many\r\nrounds long each part is, pretty simple :)\r\n\r\nThe Picking Pattern:\r\nOkay, this is such a cool riff! It's kinda tricky though - especially if you're\r\nto sing/rap at the same time!\r\nThe tricky thing is the slaps on the beats 2 and 4 (except for the second 4).\r\nThe easiest way of learning the whole thing would be to learn it without the\r\nslaps in first place. Simply start with the finger picking, and then try to\r\nadd the slaps afterward. Notice how important the slaps are! How Jason slaps\r\nis slapping only the low e- and a-string (as noted in the tab) with the thumb.\r\nBy only slapping and dampening those two strings, you can let the other strings\r\nring across the slap, but it really takes some motor function. I find the second\r\nslap hardest, as you are to do the slide simultaneously, but when it's nailed,\r\nit sounds so groovey!\r\nI typed the riff into GP5, so just mail me and ask for it if you want it.\r\n\r\n\r\n[tab] [ch]G[/ch] [ch]Csus2[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]A#6[/ch] [ch]A#6/A[/ch]\r\n 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +[/tab]\r\n[tab]|---------------------------------|---------------------------------|\r\n|-----------------------8\\--------|---------------------------------|\r\n|-------4---------------7\\--------|-------2---------------0-------0-|\r\n|-------5-----------------------0-|-------2-------------0-------0---|\r\n|---------x---0-----------x---0---|---------x---0-----5-------5-----|\r\n|-3---3---x-------8---8---x-------|-1---1---x-1-----6-------5-------|[/tab]\r\n\r\n\r\n Intro: 2+2+2 rounds, only guitar and banjo in the first 2 rounds,\r\n then Jason's vocal comes in, and finally the bands plays in.\r\n\r\n Verse 1: 4\r\n\r\n Chorus: 2\r\n\r\n Interlude: 2\r\n\r\n Verse 2: 4+4\r\n\r\n Chorus: 4\r\n\r\n Verse 3: 4, break on the second bar all four times\r\n\r\n Verse 4: 4\r\n\r\n Chorus: 2, then fade out over 3 rounds\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n********************************************************************************\r\n\r\n6. _________________________________\r\n / Jason Mraz /\r\n / Sleep All Day /\r\n/________________________________/\r\n\r\nOoh, this is just a lovely simple song!\r\nTroughout the entire song is just one single chord progression of 4 bars\r\nand 3 variations. I have notated it below as if there\r\nwas no capo on, since it's easier to read. So the open string (0th fret) on\r\nthe high e-string is still actually a F#-note on the 2nd fret - say the capo\r\njust hold that fret for you. Notice that\nthe pattern for the E and the C#m7 is excactly the same, as these are two\nvery similar chords. You can also just play the picking pattern as strummed\nchords, those would be the first 3 chords I've added in the chord chart.\n The strummed chords are played in the chorus and bridge. Those are the\nnext 4 chords in the chord chart.\n Capo on 2nd fret\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Intro/Interlude:\n| E | Dmaj9 | C#m7 | Dmaj9 |\n\n\n Verse:\n| E | Dmaj9 | C#m7 | Dmaj9 |\n\n| E | Dmaj9 |\n\n\n\n Chorus:\n| C#m7 | F# | C#m7 | F# |\n\n| C#m7 | F# | C#m7 | F# |\n\n\n Interlude\n\n\n Verse:\n| E | Dmaj9 | C#m7 | Dmaj9 |\n\n| E | Dmaj9 | C#m7 | Dmaj9 |\n\n\n Chorus\n\n\n Bridge:\n| Bm | F# | Bm | F# |\n\n| Bm | F# | F#m | F#m |\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Outro-Verse:\n| E | Dmaj9 | C#m7 | Dmaj9...\n\n\n\n\n\n********************************************************************************\n\n5. _________________________________\n / Jason Mraz /\n / Curbside Prophet /\n/________________________________/\n\nAll the way through the song is just the same round of two bars of played over\nand over again. So instead of indicating chords, I've just indicated how many\nrounds long each part is, pretty simple :)\n\nThe Picking Pattern:\nOkay, this is such a cool riff! It's kinda tricky though - especially if you're\nto sing/rap at the same time!\nThe tricky thing is the slaps on the beats 2 and 4 (except for the second 4).\nThe easiest way of learning the whole thing would be to learn it without the\nslaps in first place. Simply start with the finger picking, and then try to\nadd the slaps afterward. Notice how important the slaps are! How Jason slaps\nis slapping only the low e- and a-string (as noted in the tab) with the thumb.\nBy only slapping and dampening those two strings, you can let the other strings\nring across the slap, but it really takes some motor function. I find the second\nslap hardest, as you are to do the slide simultaneously, but when it's nailed,\nit sounds so groovey!\nI typed the riff into GP5, so just mail me and ask for it if you want it.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Intro: 2+2+2 rounds, only guitar and banjo in the first 2 rounds,\n then Jason's vocal comes in, and finally the bands plays in.\n\n Verse 1: 4\n\n Chorus: 2\n\n Interlude: 2\n\n Verse 2: 4+4\n\n Chorus: 4\n\n Verse 3: 4, break on the second bar all four times\n\n Verse 4: 4\n\n Chorus: 2, then fade out over 3 rounds\n\n\n\n\n\n********************************************************************************\n\n6. _________________________________\n / Jason Mraz /\n / Sleep All Day /\n/________________________________/\n\nOoh, this is just a lovely simple song!\nTroughout the entire song is just one single chord progression of 4 bars\nand 3 variations.
