Blood on the Tracks is Dylan's best album.\r\n\r\nOthers may tell you that Blonde on Blonde, Highway 61 Revisited or even Desire is\r\nhis best album, but they're wrong, and when pressed (up against the wall, and in\r\nthe presence of a .44, if necessary), they will eventually agree.\r\n\r\nBlood on the Tracks is also Dylan's best album in its released form.\r\n\r\n1 Tangled Up In Blue: there are dues gettin' through,[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]G[/ch] [ch]D[/ch] [ch]A[/ch]\r\nTangled up in blue.[/tab]\r\n\r\nShe was married when we first met\r\nSoon to be divorced\r\nI helped her out of a jam, I guess,\r\nBut I used a little too much force.\r\nWe drove that car as far as we could\r\nAbandoned it out West\r\nSplit up on a dark sad night\r\nBoth agreeing it was best.\r\nShe turned around to look at me\r\nAs I was walkin' away\r\nI heard her say over my shoulder,\r\n\"We'll meet again someday on the avenue,\"\r\nTangled up in blue.\r\n\r\nI had a job in the great north woods\r\nWorking as a cook for a spell\r\nBut I never did like it all that much\r\nAnd one day the ax just fell.\r\nSo I drifted down to New Orleans\r\nWhere I happened to be employed\r\nWorkin' for a while on a fishin' boat\r\nRight outside of Delacroix.\r\nBut all the while I was alone\r\nThe past was close behind,\r\nI seen a lot of women\r\nBut she never escaped my mind, and I just grew\r\nTangled up in blue.\r\n\r\nShe was workin' in a topless place\r\nAnd I stopped in for a beer,\r\nI just kept looking' at the side of her face\r\nIn the spotlight so clear.\r\nAnd later on as the crowd thinned out\r\nI's just about to do the same,\r\nShe was standing there in back of my chair\r\nSaid to me, \"Don't I know your name?\"\r\nI muttered somethin' underneath my breath,\r\nShe studied the lines on my face.\r\nI must admit I felt a little uneasy\r\nWhen she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,\r\nTangled up in blue.\r\n\r\nShe lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe\r\n\"I thought you'd never say hello,\" she said\r\n\"You look like the silent type.\"\r\nThen she opened up a book of poems\r\nAnd handed it to me\r\nWritten by an Italian poet\r\nFrom the thirteenth century.\r\nAnd every one of them words rang true\r\nAnd glowed like burnin' coal\r\nPourin' off of every page\r\nLike it was written in my soul from me to you,\r\nTangled up in blue,\r\n\r\nI lived with them on Montague Street\r\nIn a basement down the stairs,\r\nThere was music in the cafes at night\r\nAnd revolution in the air.\r\nThen he started into dealing with slaves\r\nAnd something inside of him died.\r\nShe had to sell everything she owned\r\nAnd froze up inside.\r\nAnd when finally the bottom fell out I became withdrawn,\r\nThe only thing I knew how to do\r\nWas to keep on keepin' on\r\nLike a bird that flew\r\nTangled up in blue.\r\n\r\nSo now I'm goin' back again,\r\nI got to get to her somehow.\r\nAll the people we used to know\r\nThey're an illusion to me now.\r\nSome are mathematicians\r\nSome are carpenter's wives.\r\nDon't know how it all got started,\r\nI don't know what they're doin' with their lives.\r\nBut me, I'm still on the road\r\nHeadin' for another joint\r\nWe always did feel the same,\r\nWe just saw it from a different point of view,\r\nTangled up in blue.\r\n\r\nVersion B Cut from the new york studio that was released on the there are lots of versions and variations of this song frankly too many to\r\nup here soo this is the simplest one taken from the 3rd Album cut.\r\n\r\n\r\nStandard tuning\r\n\r\n[tab][ch]G[/ch]\r\nThey sat together in the park[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Bm[/ch]\r\nAs the evening sky grew dark,[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]G7[/ch]\r\nShe looked at him and he felt a spark[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]C[/ch] /B [ch]Am[/ch]\r\ntingle to his bones.[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]C[/ch] /B [ch]Am[/ch]\r\n'Twas then he felt alone[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]G[/ch] [ch]D[/ch] [ch]C[/ch]\r\nand wished that he'd gone straight[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]G[/ch] [ch]Am[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nAnd watched out for a simple twist of fate[/tab]\r\n\r\nThey walked along by the old canal\r\nA little confused, I remember well\r\nAnd stopped into a strange hotel\r\nwith a neon burnin' bright.\r\nHe felt the heat of the night\r\nhit him like a freight train\r\nMoving with a simple twist of fate.\r\n\r\nA saxophone someplace far off played\r\nAs she was walkin' by the arcade.\r\nAs the light bust through a beat-up shade\r\nwhere he was wakin' up,\r\nShe dropped a coin into the cup\r\nof a blind man at the gate\r\nAnd forgot about a simple twist of fate.\r\n\r\nHe woke up, the room was bare\r\nHe didn't see her anywhere.\r\nHe told himself he didn't care,\r\npushed the window open wide,\r\nFelt an emptiness inside\r\nto which he just could not relate\r\nBrought on by a simple twist of fate.\r\n\r\nHe hears the ticking of the clocks\r\nAnd walks along with a parrot that talks,\r\nHunts her down by the waterfront docks\r\nwhere the sailers all come in.\r\nMaybe she'll pick him out again,\r\nhow long must he wait\r\nOnce more for a simple twist of fate.\r\n\r\nPeople tell me it's a sin\r\nTo know and feel too much within.\r\nI still believe she was my twin,\r\nbut I lost the ring.\r\nShe was born in spring,\r\nbut I was born too late\r\nBlame it on a simple twist of fate\r\n\r\n3 Your a big girl now\r\n\r\n[tab][ch]Bm[/ch] [ch]Am[/ch]\r\n Our conversation was short and sweet[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Bm[/ch] [ch]Am[/ch]\r\n It nearly swept me off-a my feet.[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]G[/ch] [ch]C[/ch]\r\nAnd I'm back in the rain, oh[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]G[/ch] [ch]C[/ch]\r\nAnd you are on dry land,[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]Am[/ch]\r\nYou made it there somehow[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Bm[/ch] [ch]Am[/ch] [ch]D7/F#[/ch] [ch]G[/ch] [ch]D/F#[/ch]\r\n You're a big girl now.[/tab]\r\n\r\nBird on the horizon, sittin' on a fence,\r\nHe's singin' his song for me at his own expense\r\nAnd I'm just like that bird, oh, oh,\r\nSingin' just for you, mm-mm.\r\nI hope that you can hear,\r\nHear me singin' through these tears.\r\n\r\nLove is so simple, to quote a phrase,\r\nYou've known it all the time, I'm learnin' it these days .\r\nOh, I know where I can find You, oh, oh,\r\nIn somebody's room. m-mm\r\nIt's a price I have to pay\r\nYou're a big girl all the way.\r\n\r\nTime is a jet plane, it moves too fast\r\nOh, but what a shame that all we've shared can't last.\r\nI can change, I swear, mm-mm\r\nSee what you can do, mm-mm.\r\nI can make it through,\r\nYou can make it too.\r\n\r\nA change in the weather can be extreme\r\nBut it ain't like changing horses in midstream\r\nI'm going out of my mind, mm-mm\r\nWith a pain that stops and starts, mm-aa\r\nLike a corkscrew to my heart\r\nEver since we've been apart.\r\n\r\n\r\n4 Idiot Wind\r\n\r\n[tab][ch]Cm[/ch] [ch]D[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nSomeone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Cm[/ch] [ch]D[/ch]\r\nWhoever it is I wish they'd cut it out quick but when they will I can only[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]G[/ch]\r\nguess.[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Bm[/ch] [ch]Am[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nThey say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Bm[/ch] [ch]Am[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nShe inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]Bm[/ch] [ch]C[/ch]\r\nI can't help it if I'm lucky.[/tab]\r\n\r\n\r\nPeople see me all the time, I guess they just can't remember how to act\r\nTheir minds are filled with false ideas, images and distorted facts.\r\nAnd even you, yesterday you had to ask me where it was at,\r\nI couldn't believe after all these years, you didn't know me any better than that\r\nSweet lady.\r\n[tab][ch]G[/ch] [ch]C[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nIdiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]C[/ch] [ch]D7[/ch]\r\nBlowing down the backroads headin' south.[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]G[/ch] [ch]C[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nIdiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]C[/ch]\r\nYou're an idiot, babe.[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]D7[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nIt's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.[/tab]\r\nI ran into the fortune teller, she said beware 'cause some lightning might strike.\r\nI haven't known about peace and quiet now for so long I don't even remember what it's like.\r\nThere's a lone soldier on the cross, smoke pourin' out of a boxcar door,\r\nHe didn't know it, he never thought it could be done, but at the final shot he won the war\r\nAfter losin' every battle.\r\n\r\nI woke up on the roadside, daydreamin' 'bout the way things really are\r\nVisions of your smokin' shoot through my head and are makin' me see stars.\r\nYou hurt the ones that I love best and cover up the truth with lies.\r\nOne day you'll be in the grave, flies buzzin' around your eyes,\r\nBlood on your saddle.\r\nIdiot wind, blowing through the flowers on your tomb,\r\nBlowing through the curtains in your room.\r\nIdiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,\r\nYou're an idiot, babe.\r\nIt's a wonder that you still can even breathe.\r\nIt was gravity which pulled us down and destiny which broke us apart\r\nYou tamed the lion in my cage but it wasn't enough to change my heart.\r\nNow everything's a little upside down, as a matter of fact the wheels have stopped,\r\nWhat's good is bad, what's bad is good, you'll find out when you reach the top\r\nYou're on the bottom.\r\n\r\nI noticed at the ceremony, that your corrupt ways had finally made you blind\r\nI can't recall your face anymore, your mouth has changed and your eyes don't look into mine.\r\nThe priest wore black on the seventh day and sat stone-faced while the building burned.\r\nI waited for you on the running boards, near the cypress trees, while the springtime\r\nturned Slowly into autumn.\r\nIdiot wind, blowing like a circle around my skull,\r\nFrom the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol.\r\nIdiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,\r\nYou're an idiot, babe.\r\nIt's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.\r\nI can't feel you anymore, I can't even touch the clothes you wear\r\nEvery time I come into your door, you leave me standing in the middle of the air..\r\nDown the highway, down the tracks, down the road to ecstasy,\r\nI followed you beneath the stars, hounded by your memory\r\nAnd all your ragin' glory.\r\n\r\nI been double-crossed now for the very last time and I think I finally see,\r\nI kissed goodbye the howling beast on the borderline which separated you from me.\r\nYou'll never know the hurt I suffered nor the pain I rise above,\r\nAnd I'll never know the same about you, your holiness or your kind of love,\r\nAnd it makes me feel so sorry.\r\nIdiot wind, blowing through the buttons of our coats,\r\nBlowing through the letters that we wrote.\r\nIdiot wind, blowing through the dust upon our shelves,\r\nWe're idiots, babe.\r\nIt's a wonder we can even feed ourselves.\r\n\r\n\r\n5 Your Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go\r\n\r\nOpen D/E tuning (D-A-D-F#-A-D' or E-B-E-G#-B-E')\r\n\r\nChords:\r\n[ch]E[/ch] gonna make me lonesome when you go.\r\nYer gonna make me wonder what I'm doin',\r\nStayin' far behind without you.\r\nYer gonna make me wonder what I'm sayin',\r\nYer gonna make me give myself a good what they were doin' before he turned their heads.\r\nThen he walked up to a stranger and he asked him with a grin,\r\n\"Could you kindly tell me, friend, what time the show begins?\"\r\nThen he moved into the corner, face down like the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nBackstage the girls were playin' five-card stud by the stairs,\r\nLily had two queens, she was hopin' for a third to match her pair.\r\nOutside the streets were fillin' up, the window was open wide,\r\nA gentle breeze was blowin', you could feel it from inside.\r\nLily called another bet and drew up the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nBig Jim was no one's fool, he owned the town's only diamond mine,\r\nHe made his usual entrance looking' so dandy and so fine.\r\nWith his bodyguards and silver cane and every hair in place,\r\nHe took whatever he wanted to and he laid it all to waste.\r\nBut his bodyguards and silver cane were no match for the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nRosemary combed her hair and took a carriage into town,\r\nShe slipped in through the side door looking' like a queen without a crown.\r\nShe fluttered her false eyelashes and whispered in his ear,\r\n\"Sorry, darlin', that I'm late,\" but he didn't seem to hear.\r\nHe was starin' into space over at the Jack of Hearts .\r\n\r\n\"I know I've seen that face before,\" Big Jim was thinkin' to himself,\r\n\"Maybe down in Mexico or a picture up on somebody's shelf.\"\r\nBut then the crowd began to stamp their feet and the house lights did dim\r\nAnd in the darkness of the room there was only Jim and him,\r\nStarin' at the butterfly who just drew the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nLily was a princess, she was fair-skinned and precious as a child,\r\nShe did whatever she had to do, she had that certain flash every time she smiled.\r\nShe'd come away from a broken home, had lots of strange affairs\r\nWith men in every walk of life which took her everywhere.\r\nBut she'd never met anyone quite like the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nThe hangin' judge came in unnoticed and was being wined and dined,\r\nThe drillin' in the wall kept up but no one seemed to pay it any mind.\r\nIt was known all around that Lily had Jim's ring\r\nAnd nothing would ever come between Lily and the king.\r\nNo, nothin' ever would except maybe the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nRosemary started drinkin' hard and seein' her reflection in the knife,\r\nShe was tired of the attention, tired of playin' the role of Big Jim's wife.\r\nShe had done a lot of bad things, even once tried suicide,\r\nWas looking' to do just one good deed before she died.\r\nShe was gazin' to the future, riding on the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nLily washed her face, took her dress off and buried it away.\r\n\"Has your luck run out?\" she laughed at him,\r\n\"Well, I guess you must have known it would someday.\r\nBe careful not to touch the wall, there's a brand-new coat of paint,\r\nI'm glad to see you're still alive, you're looking' like a saint.\"\r\nDown the hallway footsteps were comin' for the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nThe backstage manager was pacing all around by his chair.\r\n\"There's something funny going on,\" he said, \"I can just feel it in the air.\"\r\nHe went to get the hangin' judge, but the hangin' judge was drunk,\r\nAs the leading actor hurried by in the costume of a monk.\r\nThere was no actor anywhere better than the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nLily's arms were locked around the man that she dearly loved to touch,\r\nShe forgot all about the man she couldn't stand who hounded her so much.\r\n\"I've missed you so,\" she said to him, and he felt she was sincere,\r\nBut just beyond the door he felt jealousy and fear.\r\nJust another night in the life of the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nNo one knew the circumstance but they say that it happened pretty quick,\r\nThe door to the dressing room burst open and a cold revolver clicked.\r\nAnd Big Jim was standin' there, ya couldn't say surprised,\r\nRosemary right beside him, steady in her eyes.\r\nShe was with Big Jim but she was leanin' to the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nTwo doors down the boys finally made it through the wall\r\nAnd cleaned out the bank safe, It's said they got off quite a haul\r\nIn the darkness by the riverbed they waited on the ground\r\nFor one more member who had business back in town.\r\nBut they couldn't go no further without the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nThe next day was hangin' day, the sky was overcast and black,\r\nBig Jim lay covered up, killed by a penknife in the back.\r\nAnd Rosemary on the gallows, she didn't even blink,\r\nThe hangin' judge was sober, he hadn't had a drink.\r\nThe only person on the scene missin' was the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\nThe cabaret was empty now, a sign said, \"Closed for repair,\"\r\nLily had already taken all of the dye out of her hair.\r\nShe was thinkin' 'bout her father, who she very rarely saw,\r\nThinkin' 'bout Rosemary and thinkin' about the law.\r\nBut most of all she was thinkin' 'bout the Jack of Hearts.\r\n\r\n\r\nVersion 2\r\nStandard tuning. Blue: there are 3 versions that were made for the album\nso you can pick which one you like best....\n\nVersion A iE Album version\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShe was married when we first met\nSoon to be divorced\nI helped her out of a jam, I guess,\nBut I used a little too much force.\nWe drove that car as far as we could\nAbandoned it out West\nSplit up on a dark sad night\nBoth agreeing it was best.\nShe turned around to look at me\nAs I was walkin' away\nI heard her say over my shoulder,\n\"We'll meet again someday on the avenue,\"\nTangled up in blue.\n\nI had a job in the great north woods\nWorking as a cook for a spell\nBut I never did like it all that much\nAnd one day the ax just fell.\nSo I drifted down to New Orleans\nWhere I happened to be employed\nWorkin' for a while on a fishin' boat\nRight outside of Delacroix.\nBut all the while I was alone\nThe past was close behind,\nI seen a lot of women\nBut she never escaped my mind, and I just grew\nTangled up in blue.\n\nShe was workin' in a topless place\nAnd I stopped in for a beer,\nI just kept looking' at the side of her face\nIn the spotlight so clear.\nAnd later on as the crowd thinned out\nI's just about to do the same,\nShe was standing there in back of my chair\nSaid to me, \"Don't I know your name?\"\nI muttered somethin' underneath my breath,\nShe studied the lines on my face.\nI must admit I felt a little uneasy\nWhen she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,\nTangled up in blue.\n\nShe lit a burner on the stove and offered me a pipe\n\"I thought you'd never say hello,\" she said\n\"You look like the silent type.\"\nThen she opened up a book of poems\nAnd handed it to me\nWritten by an Italian poet\nFrom the thirteenth century.\nAnd every one of them words rang true\nAnd glowed like burnin' coal\nPourin' off of every page\nLike it was written in my soul from me to you,\nTangled up in blue,\n\nI lived with them on Montague Street\nIn a basement down the stairs,\nThere was music in the cafes at night\nAnd revolution in the air.\nThen he started into dealing with slaves\nAnd something inside of him died.\nShe had to sell everything she owned\nAnd froze up inside.\nAnd when finally the bottom fell out I became withdrawn,\nThe only thing I knew how to do\nWas to keep on keepin' on\nLike a bird that flew\nTangled up in blue.\n\nSo now I'm goin' back again,\nI got to get to her somehow.\nAll the people we used to know\nThey're an illusion to me now.\nSome are mathematicians\nSome are carpenter's wives.\nDon't know how it all got started,\nI don't know what they're doin' with their lives.\nBut me, I'm still on the road\nHeadin' for another joint\nWe always did feel the same,\nWe just saw it from a different point of view,\nTangled up in blue.\n\nVersion B Cut from the new york studio that was released on the bootleg V 1\n\nIn Open D/E tuning (D-A-D-F#-A-D' or E-B-E-G#-B-E')\n\nChords\n\nEvii 000897\nDv 000675\nB(ii) frankly too many to\nup here soo this is the simplest one taken from the 3rd Album cut.\n\n\nStandard tuning\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThey walked along by the old canal\nA little confused, I remember well\nAnd stopped into a strange hotel\nwith a neon burnin' bright.\nHe felt the heat of the night\nhit him like a freight train\nMoving with a simple twist of fate.\n\nA saxophone someplace far off played\nAs she was walkin' by the arcade.\nAs the light bust through a beat-up shade\nwhere he was wakin' up,\nShe dropped a coin into the cup\nof a blind man at the gate\nAnd forgot about a simple twist of fate.\n\nHe woke up, the room was bare\nHe didn't see her anywhere.\nHe told himself he didn't care,\npushed the window open wide,\nFelt an emptiness inside\nto which he just could not relate\nBrought on by a simple twist of fate.\n\nHe hears the ticking of the clocks\nAnd walks along with a parrot that talks,\nHunts her down by the waterfront docks\nwhere the sailers all come in.\nMaybe she'll pick him out again,\nhow long must he wait\nOnce more for a simple twist of fate.\n\nPeople tell me it's a sin\nTo know and feel too much within.\nI still believe she was my twin,\nbut I lost the ring.\nShe was born in spring,\nbut I was born too late\nBlame it on a simple twist of fate\n\n3 Your a big girl now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBird on the horizon, sittin' on a fence,\nHe's singin' his song for me at his own expense\nAnd I'm just like that bird, oh, oh,\nSingin' just for you, mm-mm.\nI hope that you can hear,\nHear me singin' through these tears.\n\nLove is so simple, to quote a phrase,\nYou've known it all the time, I'm learnin' it these days .\nOh, I know where I can find You, oh, oh,\nIn somebody's room. m-mm\nIt's a price I have to pay\nYou're a big girl all the way.\n\nTime is a jet plane, it moves too fast\nOh, but what a shame that all we've shared can't last.\nI can change, I swear, mm-mm\nSee what you can do, mm-mm.\nI can make it through,\nYou can make it too.\n\nA change in the weather can be extreme\nBut it ain't like changing horses in midstream\nI'm going out of my mind, mm-mm\nWith a pain that stops and starts, mm-aa\nLike a corkscrew to my heart\nEver since we've been apart.\n\n\n4 Idiot Wind\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPeople see me all the time, I guess they just can't remember how to act\nTheir minds are filled with false ideas, images and distorted facts.\nAnd even you, yesterday you had to ask me where it was at,\nI couldn't believe after all these years, you didn't know me any better than that\nSweet lady.\n\n\n\n\n\nI ran into the fortune teller, she said beware 'cause some lightning might strike.\nI haven't known about peace and quiet now for so long I don't even remember what it's like.\nThere's a lone soldier on the cross, smoke pourin' out of a boxcar door,\nHe didn't know it, he never thought it could be done, but at the final shot he won the war\nAfter losin' every battle.\n\nI woke up on the roadside, daydreamin' 'bout the way things really are\nVisions of your smokin' shoot through my head and are makin' me see stars.\nYou hurt the ones that I love best and cover up the truth with lies.\nOne day you'll be in the grave, flies buzzin' around your eyes,\nBlood on your saddle.\nIdiot wind, blowing through the flowers on your tomb,\nBlowing through the curtains in your room.\nIdiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,\nYou're an idiot, babe.\nIt's a wonder that you still can even breathe.\nIt was gravity which pulled us down and destiny which broke us apart\nYou tamed the lion in my cage but it wasn't enough to change my heart.\nNow everything's a little upside down, as a matter of fact the wheels have stopped,\nWhat's good is bad, what's bad is good, you'll find out when you reach the top\nYou're on the bottom.\n\nI noticed at the ceremony, that your corrupt ways had finally made you blind\nI can't recall your face anymore, your mouth has changed and your eyes don't look into mine.\nThe priest wore black on the seventh day and sat stone-faced while the building burned.\nI waited for you on the running boards, near the cypress trees, while the springtime\nturned Slowly into autumn.\nIdiot wind, blowing like a circle around my skull,\nFrom the Grand Coulee Dam to the Capitol.\nIdiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,\nYou're an idiot, babe.\nIt's a wonder that you still know how to breathe.\nI can't feel you anymore, I can't even touch the clothes you wear\nEvery time I come into your door, you leave me standing in the middle of the air..\nDown the highway, down the tracks, down the road to ecstasy,\nI followed you beneath the stars, hounded by your memory\nAnd all your ragin' glory.\n\nI been double-crossed now for the very last time and I think I finally see,\nI kissed goodbye the howling beast on the borderline which separated you from me.\nYou'll never know the hurt I suffered nor the pain I rise above,\nAnd I'll never know the same about you, your holiness or your kind of love,\nAnd it makes me feel so sorry.\nIdiot wind, blowing through the buttons of our coats,\nBlowing through the letters that we wrote.\nIdiot wind, blowing through the dust upon our shelves,\nWe're idiots, babe.\nIt's a wonder we can even feed ourselves.\n\n\n5 Your Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Anne lace,\nCrimson hair across your face,\nYou could make me cry if you don't know.\nCan't remember what I was thinkin' of\nYou might be spoilin' me too much, love,\nYou're gonna make me lonesome when you go\n\n\n\nA'\nI could stay with you forever\n B'\nAnd never realize the time.\nSituations have ended sad,\nRelationships have all been bad.\nMine have been like Verlaine's and Rimbaud.\nBut there's no way I can compare\nAll them scenes to this affair,\nYou're gonna make me lonesome when you go.\nYer gonna make me wonder what I'm doin',\nStayin' far behind without you.\nYer gonna make me wonder what I'm sayin',\nYer gonna make me give myself a good talkin' to.\nI'll look for you in old Honolulu,\nSan Francisco, Ashtabula,\nYer gonna have to leave me now, I know.\nBut that just like my heart, babe\nWhen you kissed my lips?\n\n7 Lilly Rosemary & the Jack of Hearts (quite possibly Dylans best storytelling song)\n\nI'll give you 2 versions cause i really love this song..\n\nVersion 1\n\nOpen D/E tuning (E B E G# B E)\n\nChords:\n\nE 054000 (or 054300, which simplifies the slide to A)\nA 020100 or 020120\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHe moved across the mirrored room, \"Set it up for everyone,\" he said,\nThen everyone commenced to do what they were doin' before he turned their heads.\nThen he walked up to a stranger and he asked him with a grin,\n\"Could you kindly tell me, friend, what time the show begins?\"\nThen he moved into the corner, face down like the Jack of Hearts.\n\nBackstage the girls were playin' five-card stud by the stairs,\nLily had two queens, she was hopin' for a third to match her pair.\nOutside the streets were fillin' up, the window was open wide,\nA gentle breeze was blowin', you could feel it from inside.\nLily called another bet and drew up the Jack of Hearts.\n\nBig Jim was no one's fool, he owned the town's only diamond mine,\nHe made his usual entrance looking' so dandy and so fine.\nWith his bodyguards and silver cane and every hair in place,\nHe took whatever he wanted to and he laid it all to waste.\nBut his bodyguards and silver cane were no match for the Jack of Hearts.\n\nRosemary combed her hair and took a carriage into town,\nShe slipped in through the side door looking' like a queen without a crown.\nShe fluttered her false eyelashes and whispered in his ear,\n\"Sorry, darlin', that I'm late,\" but he didn't seem to hear.\nHe was starin' into space over at the Jack of Hearts .\n\n\"I know I've seen that face before,\" Big Jim was thinkin' to himself,\n\"Maybe down in Mexico or a picture up on somebody's shelf.\"\nBut then the crowd began to stamp their feet and the house lights did dim\nAnd in the darkness of the room there was only Jim and him,\nStarin' at the butterfly who just drew the Jack of Hearts.\n\nLily was a princess, she was fair-skinned and precious as a child,\nShe did whatever she had to do, she had that certain flash every time she smiled.\nShe'd come away from a broken home, had lots of strange affairs\nWith men in every walk of life which took her everywhere.\nBut she'd never met anyone quite like the Jack of Hearts.\n\nThe hangin' judge came in unnoticed and was being wined and dined,\nThe drillin' in the wall kept up but no one seemed to pay it any mind.\nIt was known all around that Lily had Jim's ring\nAnd nothing would ever come between Lily and the king.\nNo, nothin' ever would except maybe the Jack of Hearts.\n\nRosemary started drinkin' hard and seein' her reflection in the knife,\nShe was tired of the attention, tired of playin' the role of Big Jim's wife.\nShe had done a lot of bad things, even once tried suicide,\nWas looking' to do just one good deed before she died.\nShe was gazin' to the future, riding on the Jack of Hearts.\n\nLily washed her face, took her dress off and buried it away.\n\"Has your luck run out?\" she laughed at him,\n\"Well, I guess you must have known it would someday.\nBe careful not to touch the wall, there's a brand-new coat of paint,\nI'm glad to see you're still alive, you're looking' like a saint.\"\nDown the hallway footsteps were comin' for the Jack of Hearts.\n\nThe backstage manager was pacing all around by his chair.\n\"There's something funny going on,\" he said, \"I can just feel it in the air.\"\nHe went to get the hangin' judge, but the hangin' judge was drunk,\nAs the leading actor hurried by in the costume of a monk.\nThere was no actor anywhere better than the Jack of Hearts.\n\nLily's arms were locked around the man that she dearly loved to touch,\nShe forgot all about the man she couldn't stand who hounded her so much.\n\"I've missed you so,\" she said to him, and he felt she was sincere,\nBut just beyond the door he felt jealousy and fear.\nJust another night in the life of the Jack of Hearts.\n\nNo one knew the circumstance but they say that it happened pretty quick,\nThe door to the dressing room burst open and a cold revolver clicked.\nAnd Big Jim was standin' there, ya couldn't say surprised,\nRosemary right beside him, steady in her eyes.\nShe was with Big Jim but she was leanin' to the Jack of Hearts.\n\nTwo doors down the boys finally made it through the wall\nAnd cleaned out the bank safe, It's said they got off quite a haul\nIn the darkness by the riverbed they waited on the ground\nFor one more member who had business back in town.\nBut they couldn't go no further without the Jack of Hearts.\n\nThe next day was hangin' day, the sky was overcast and black,\nBig Jim lay covered up, killed by a penknife in the back.\nAnd Rosemary on the gallows, she didn't even blink,\nThe hangin' judge was sober, he hadn't had a drink.\nThe only person on the scene missin' was the Jack of Hearts.\n\nThe cabaret was empty now, a sign said, \"Closed for repair,\"\nLily had already taken all of the dye out of her hair.\nShe was thinkin' 'bout her father, who she very rarely saw,\nThinkin' 'bout Rosemary and thinkin' about the law.\nBut most of all she was thinkin' 'bout the Jack of Hearts.\n\n\nVersion 2\nStandard tuning. Could very well be played with capo on the 2nd fret with the chords C, \nand G (G/B)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n8 if you see her say hello\n\nCapo 2nd fret (sounding key D major)\n\nAt the C/g in the last line the 2nd guitar plays a very pronounced b, which gives the\na strong Cmaj7'ish flavor.\n\n|G . . . The easiest way to play it is to disregard them, and just \nthe chords as indicated above the systems.\nThe song can be strummed to the chords that are implied in the tab. Since the 5th string\nnever played in the finger-picked version, there is no way to decide whether an Esus4\nan A9 is implied.
