It is the bass that plays the C (Which is the 5th instead of\r\n the root) while the guitar is playing the F. When you play this at home without \r\n a bass it might sound weird because you want to hear that C but it's not the \r\n guitar playing it. This is explained in greater detail by Marcus Gray in his book,\r\n \"Route 19 Revisited: The Clash and London Calling,\" which disects London Calling\r\n track by track. I've also pulled up every live video I can find with any sort of\r\n detail as to what Joe is playing. - Gharms85\r\n\r\nThis is the main rhythm guitar that is loudest in the mix. \r\n\r\n \r\nIntro Chords: \r\n\r\nEm: x 7 9 9 8 7\r\nF: 8 8 10 10 10 8\r\n\r\nVerse Chords:\r\n\r\nEm: x 7 9 9 8 7\r\nF: 8 8 10 10 10 8\r\nG: 10 10 12 12 12 10\r\n\r\nChorus Chords:\r\n\r\nEm: 0 2 2 0 0 0\r\nG: 3 5 5 4 3 3\r\nD: x x 0 2 3 2\r\n\r\n\r\n[Intro](staccato strumming, all downstrokes) \r\n[ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] x6\r\n\r\n\r\n[Verse 1] \r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling to the faraway towns[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nNow war is declared, and battle come down[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling to the underworld[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nCome out of the cupboard, you boys and girls[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling, now don't look to us[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nPhoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling, see we ain't got no swing[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\n'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing[/tab]\r\n\r\n\r\n[Chorus 1]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nThe ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nMeltdown expected, the wheat is growing thin[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nEngines stop running, but I have no fear[/tab]\r\nEm D (let ring)\r\n'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river\r\n\r\n\r\n[Verse 2]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling to the imitation zone[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch] \r\nForget it, brother, you can go it alone[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling to the zombies of death[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nQuit holding out, and draw another breath[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling, and I don't wanna shout[/tab]\r\n[tab] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nBut while we were talking, I saw you nodding out[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling, see we ain't got no high[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nExcept for that one with the yellowy eyes[/tab]\r\n\r\n\r\n[Chorus 2] \r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nThe ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nEngines stop running, the wheat is growing thin[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nA nuclear error, but I have no fear[/tab]\r\nEm D (let ring)\r\n'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river\r\n\r\n\r\n[Interlude] (Play the same as the verse)\r\n[ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch] x4\r\n\r\n\r\n[Chorus 2] \r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nThe ice age is coming, the sun's zooming in[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nEngines stop running, the wheat is growing thin[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nA nuclear error, but I have no fear[/tab]\r\nEm D (let ring)\r\n'Cause London is drowning, and I live by the river\r\n\r\n\r\n[Instrumental]\r\n[ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] [ch]F[/ch] x4\r\n\r\nNow get this\r\n\r\n\r\n[Verse 3]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]F[/ch]\r\nLondon calling, yes, I was there, too[/tab]\r\n[tab][ch]Em[/ch] [ch]G[/ch]\r\nAn' you know what they said?
